THE ALORICA SING YOUR HEART OUT SCHOLARSHIP CONTEST

WHO CAN ENTER: The contest is open to any person between 17 and 23 years of age (at the time of entry) who: 1) will be attending college fall semester 2013; 2) who lives and/or works in the KMEG 14/KPTH 44 viewing area; 3) is not a professional singer currently represented by a talent agent or manager; and 4) is not an employee or ex-employee (and their families) of KPTH, FOX 44, KMEG, CBS 14,  or any television station in the Sioux City/Sioux Falls area, and their affiliates, subsidiaries or agents.

WHAT YOU COULD WIN: A scholarship check in the amount of no less than $2000 to be used toward college tuition.

HOW TO ENTER & WIN: Beginning February 23, 2013 at 12:01 AM CST, entrants will fill out the electronic form in the “Sing Your Heart Out” section of www.SiouxlandNews.com, or by going to www.Facebook.com/Siouxlandnews  clicking the “Contest” tab and then the “Sing Your Heart Out” tab. In addition to thoroughly and correctly filling out all contact information, the entrant will also upload a :20 (20 second) video by following the instructions provided by the interface (for further rules and instructions for the content and/or form of the video, please see the UPICKEM rules located under the contest tab on Facebook.com/SiouxlandNews.). The video shall be: 1) :20 in length; and 2) the entrant singing a song, either accompanied or unaccompanied. One video per entrant will be allowed. VIDEOS LONGER THAN :30 SECONDS WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE. Videos will be accepted until April 28, 2013 at 11:59 CST (THIS HAS BEEN EXTENDED ONE WEEK). No group entries shall be accepted – only individual singers will be allowed.

A committee comprised of Siouxland News employees and representatives and our sponsors will choose five (5) finalists from all eligible entries (ORIGINALLY DESIGNATED TO BE FOUR FINALISTS-SIOUXLAND NEWS HAS ADDED A FIFTH AS OF 4/29 TO FACILITATE HAVING A PERFORMER EACH WEEKNIGHT ON NEWS.) ALL DECISIONS REGARDING ANY PART OF THIS CONTEST ARE AT THE DISCRETION OF THIS COMMITTEE AND ARE FINAL. The Five (5) finalists shall be invited on to the KMEG and/or KPTH News to sing on the news. Once all five finalists have performed, viewers will vote on who their favorite finalist is. Voting shall take place through www.SiouxlandNews.com, or by going to www.Facebook.com/Siouxlandnews and shall be monitored by UPICKEM.  Voting ends on May 12, 2013 at 11:59 PM CST. The finalist with the highest number of Votes (as determined by UPICKEM) shall win the scholarship check, which will be presented to the winner the day after the winner is declared.

Videos that contain lewd, obscene, or inappropriate content, in Sioulxand News’ sole discretion, may be removed from the contest.

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. No cash substitutions or exchanges allowed. All taxes are the responsibility of the winner. The finalists and the eventual winner will be notified via email or phone and will be required to come to the studios at KMEG, CBS 14, 100 Gold Circle, Dakota Dunes, SD 57049, and present proper identification, i.e. driver’s license or other valid photo identification and sign a prize waiver form (provided by KMEG/KPTH) to be an eligible contestant for any and/or all portions of this contest, including but not limited to, being chosen as the winner. Identification which is counterfeit, illegible, tampered with or otherwise altered will not be honored. By claiming a prize, a winner consents to the use, without additional compensation, of his or her name and/or likeness and/or voice, and/or submission of entry for promotion and/or advertising purposes in connection with this promotion. All federal, state, and local laws apply. ALL VIDEOS BECOME THE SOLE PROPERTY OF SIOUXLAND NEWS AND ALL ENTRANTS WAIVE LEGAL RIGHTS AND CLAIMS TO INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY TO SAID VIDEOS. SIOUXLAND NEWS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO ALTER THE VIDEO IN ANY WAY SO DESIRED WITHOUT NOTICE OR COMPENSATION GIVEN TO ENTRANTS.

All decisions of the Siouxland News judges and/or committee concerning any and all matters with respect to this contest shall be final. Siouxland News reserves the right to alter the contest by placing announcements on the air, and assumes no responsibility for internet miscommunication.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY. If, for any reason, the promotion is not capable of running as planned for any reason which KMEG/KPTH, in its sole opinion, deems could corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this promotion, KMEG/KPTH reserves the right to terminate, modify or suspend this promotion, in whole or in part, fair and appropriate by KMEG/KPTH. IN NO EVENT WILL KMEG/KPTH, PARTICIPATING PROMOTIONAL COMPANIES, OR THEIR RESPECTIVE PARENTS, AFFILIATES, SUBSIDIARIES AND RELATED COMPANIES, THEIR ADVERTISING OR PROMOTION AGENCIES OR THEIR RESPECTIVE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, REPRESENTATIVES, AGENTS, SUCCESSORS AND ASSIGNS BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES OR LOSSES OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES.
